Here’s what really shone throughout the novel, was the girls friendship. It was a really enjoyable aspect of the book. The perspectives were so different and rack personality was strong. Elodie, who begins a sweet romance that’s lovely to read and Moe, who was probably my favourite, deal with her own issues. Tabitha, the popular girl who’s trying to find her true self and dealing with her boyfriend. This book features three fantastic characters who each had a good individual storylines. It was a super quick read (I never read quickly, so you can tell I did enjoy it) that was funny, smart and heartwarming. And yet when Tabitha challenges them to a steal-off, the forge a strange alliance, linked by the thrill of stealing and the reasons that spawn it. A more unlikely trio high school has rarely seen. Tabitha, Elodie, and Moe: a queen bee, a wallflower, and a burn-out.

But both of them are nothing compared to snow, a bad girl with an even worse reputation.

So does Elodie, who, despite her goody-two-shoes attitude, pretty much has klepto written across her forehead in indelible marker. Tabitha has just about everything she wants: money, friends, popularity, a hot boyfriend who worships her… and clearly a yen for stealing. Until the day Tabitha and Elodie walk in. The shoplifters anonymous meetings that sixteen-year-old Moe is forced to attend are usually punctuated by the snores of an old man and the whining of the world’s unhappiest housewife.

‘Trinkets’ has been made into a Netflix series and I was lucky enough to be sent the book by Scholastic UK.
