Due to the violence, unless a teen is very mature, I would recommend it for adult readers only. This is not a children's series, nor, in my opinion, young adult. I want to know what happens and it is going to be difficult to wait for the next book, hopefully coming out in August. Yet, as uncomfortable as I may be at times while reading these books, I am caught up in the story. This series has actually forced me to deal with a couple of issues that I have been avoiding and that is never comfortable. Unfortunately, this realism is a chilling reminder of the worst that the human race is capable of. Despite being in a sci-fi/fantasy/post-apocalyptic setting, the characters, the reactions, the true "humanity" comes through. However, all is not what it seems and the rescue of Seth, Lorna, and Jennifer sets off a chain reaction that threatens everyone's safety.Īccinni's writing is eerily realistic. They regain their youth, their health, and become (for the most part) content in their situation. Their life revolves around each other and the animals. Living in the hive, the group slowly changes.
